Mary Alice is an experienced enterprise-wide and global medical affairs leader with expertise in creating transformational change initiatives, building and leading effective teams, and implementing patient-centric practices. She developed and led a medical excellence function that elevated medical affairs deliverables via global, regional, and local medical partnerships while ensuring strong governance processes and also led patient centricity practices that established patient networks to provide insight into and affect drug development. Mary Alice is passionate about the opportunity for digital transformation in medical affairs; among her many professional associations, she is chair of the Medical Affairs Digital Strategy Council, which brings together medical affairs leaders from across the industry to better understand the practical applications of modern technology and the impact on customer experience.
Prior to joining DT Consulting, Mary Alice spent fifteen years in executive roles at AstraZeneca, most recently as VP of global medical excellence, which encompassed global publications, global MSL excellence, global nominated signatory, the Medical Academy, medical resources, and patient centricity. She also held roles as head of US field medical and VP of US medical affairs at AstraZeneca. Mary Alice has led scientific and medical teams at Takeda, Pharmacia, and Searle and worked in clinical drug development at Hoffmann-LaRoche and Glaxo. She is an expert in supporting organizations seeking to elevate medical affairs to become a strategic partner in the business.
Mary Alice is the Chairperson of MAPS Executive Program Committee (EPC), and received a bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in pharmacy from the University of Rhode Island and a doctorate in pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
